Do your agency’s SOPs require you to automatically euthanize rabies vector species, even when human or domestic animal exposure has been ruled out?
Description
Do your agency’s standard operating procedures require you to automatically euthanize rabies vector species, even when human or domestic animal exposure has been ruled out? These types of policies, which may be required by local and/or state health departments, can have detrimental impacts on local populations of bats (which are already threatened by white nose syndrome). This webinar, featuring guest speaker Chief Jennifer Toussaint from the Animal Welfare League of Arlington, will discuss how to develop and implement rabies policies that keep people and pets safe, while also working with your local health department to prevent the unnecessary killing of wildlife in instances where no exposure has occurred.
